Synopsis
Summer in Berlin (Sommer vorm Balkon, 2005) is a German comedy-drama from director Andreas Dresen, available to watch online on iFILM. Nike (Inka Friedrich) works as a caregiver for the elderly — blunt, funny, no illusions. Kathrin (Nadia Uhl) is her neighbour: divorced, years out of steady work, raising a teenage son. They live in the same East Berlin apartment block and spend their warm evenings on Nike's balcony with beer, gossip, and the kind of arguments that don't go anywhere.
That's the whole engine. Dresen trusts it completely — no manufactured drama, no tidy arc. When truck driver Ronald (Andreas Schmidt) enters the picture, the friendship gets tested in ways neither woman expected, but the film never tips into melodrama.
