Synopsis
Come What May (En mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît, 2015) is a French-Belgian wartime drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Christian Carion. When German troops crossed into France in May 1940, millions of civilians took to the roads, abandoning homes and heading south. Among the villagers of one small Pas-de-Calais commune is a German boy whose anti-Nazi father sits in a French prison, locked up for hiding his nationality on official papers.
The father is released in the chaos of the German advance and sets out to find his son — joined by a Scottish officer working his own way back to England. August Diehl and Olivier Gourmet carry the two threads toward an inevitable crossing. Carion already proved with Joyeux Noël that he can turn the weight of wartime history into something felt at human scale; this film runs the same instinct, without the sentimentality that tends to sink the genre.
