Synopsis
A Deadly American Marriage (2025) is a true-crime documentary you can watch online on iFILM. One August night in 2015, Irishman Jason Corbett is beaten to death in the bedroom of his quiet North Carolina home.
The suspects: his second wife, Molly Martens, and her father, a retired FBI agent named Tom Martens. Their account is self-defense. The investigators read it differently. The film hands the microphone to both camps — Corbett's grieving family and the two defendants, convicted and then freed after a retrial — and lets their irreconcilable testimony sit side by side. It refuses to tell you who to believe.
Directors Jessica Burgess and Jenny Popplewell assemble the story from the 911 call, scene footage and interviews shot years afterward. The result isn't a verdict but an autopsy of how two families recall the same night in ways that cannot both be true. One for viewers who like their true crime without a voiceover steering the outcome. Stream A Deadly American Marriage online on iFILM.
