Synopsis
Last Orders (2001) is a British drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Fred Schepisi and adapted from Graham Swift's Booker Prize-winning novel. Four old friends drive Jack Dodd's ashes from London to Margate — Michael Caine, Bob Hoskins, Tom Courtenay, and David Hemmings sharing a car and fifty-odd years of history.
Jack's wife Amy, played by Helen Mirren, takes a different road entirely. She goes to visit their daughter April, who has spent her entire life in a care home — a fact the men in the car are still working around. Ray Winstone plays Vince, Jack's foster son, who carries his own version of a debt that was never settled.
Swift wrote the novel as layered voices moving through the same journey, echoing Faulkner's As I Lay Dying, and Schepisi keeps that structure intact. What comes through isn't sentiment — it's the specific weight of a long friendship, and what people carry when they can't take things back. Stream Last Orders (2001) online on iFILM.
