Synopsis
The Last Train (Der letzte Zug, 2006) is a German-Czech war drama by Dana Vávrová and Josef Vilsmaier you can watch online on iFILM. February 1945: a sealed freight car pulls out of Berlin carrying dozens of Jewish prisoners. The screenplay draws on documented testimonies of the deportation convoys that ran from the city in the war's final months.
Gedeon Burkhard plays a man who keeps looking for a way out. Lale Yavaş is a woman who refuses to let the journey define what she is. Sibel Kekilli brings a teenager barely old enough to understand the destination. Vávrová and Vilsmaier keep the camera almost entirely inside the car — no battle scenes, no wider perspective to retreat to.
