Striking The Palace

Striking The Palace (Petites Mains, 2024) is a French comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Twenty-year-old Eva takes a job as a chambermaid in one of Paris's grandest palace hotels and joins a crew of women for whom the work is a whole life — Safietou, Djaoua, Violette and Simone greet the newcomer with laughter one minute and a hard lesson the next.

Behind the gleaming lobby sits everything guests never see: shifts with no let-up, subcontractors instead of real contracts, and a single room that costs more for one night than these women earn in a year. When patience finally runs out, they go on strike — and hit on a bold way to be noticed, staging their very own "Fashion Week" right outside the hotel doors. Director Nessim Chikhaoui keeps the tone balanced between street-level humor and genuine anger without tipping fully into either.

This is a film about the "little hands" that prop up other people's luxury and stay invisible doing it. Warm, indignant and funny at once, in the tradition of French social comedies where solidarity matters more than winning. Corinne Masiero anchors an ensemble you believe completely.
