Tiptoes

Steven is the only average-height member of a family in which everyone — including his twin brother Rolfe — is born a dwarf. Afraid the baby might inherit the trait, he keeps stalling on the truth. Carol, meanwhile, is drawn into Rolfe's circle: the acid-tongued Marxist Maurice, his girlfriend Lucy, and a whole world she never knew existed, along with feelings for Rolfe she didn't see coming.

The film's strangest move is its casting. Gary Oldman plays Rolfe on his knees, while Peter Dinklage — an actor of short stature — is handed a side part. Critics savaged the decision, and Oldman himself later wrote the project off. Today it lands as a curiosity: an actorly stunt and an early showcase for Dinklage more than a love story.
