Synopsis
"Canola" (계춘할망, 2016) is a Korean drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Chang Gyu-sung. On the island of Jeju, an elderly woman named Ke-chun loses her granddaughter Hye-ji in a crowded market. Twelve years pass. A teenage girl running with a petty-crime crew stumbles on an old missing-child flyer — the missing girl shares her name and her face.
Youn Yuh-jung — who later claimed the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for "Minari" — plays Ke-chun as a woman who asks for nothing except her granddaughter back. Kim Go-eun, Ryu Joon-yeol, and K-pop star Minho (SHINee) fill out a strong ensemble. Director Chang keeps Jeju's landscape close throughout — the island isn't backdrop, it's part of the argument.
