Synopsis
Watch Dunkirk (1958) online on iFILM — Leslie Norman's British war film with John Mills, Richard Attenborough and Bernard Lee. May 1940. Hundreds of thousands of Allied troops are pinned to the French coast with the German army closing in, and the English Channel is the only way out.
The film runs two storylines at once. In France, a corporal played by Mills suddenly finds himself in charge after his officer is killed — and the beach is still miles away. Back in Britain, civilians discover that Operation Dynamo needs their boats. Attenborough plays a man deciding whether to go.
Not the Nolan version. Norman's Dunkirk is quieter, built on detail rather than spectacle, and lets the scale of what happened register without forcing it. That restraint is its real strength. Stream Dunkirk (1958) online on iFILM.
