Synopsis
7 Minutes (7 Minuti, 2016) is a taut workplace drama from Michele Placido you can watch online on iFILM. A struggling textile factory has just been sold to a multinational, and the layoffs everyone feared seem to be off the table.
There's one clause left to sign, and it falls to the workers' council — eleven women shut inside a single room. The concession looks trivial: seven minutes off their break. The argument over those minutes slowly turns into an argument about dignity, fear and who they owe their loyalty to. The camera barely leaves the room; everything sits in the faces and the words. Ottavia Piccolo, Ambra Angiolini, Cristiana Capotondi and Clémence Poésy lead the ensemble.
Adapted from Stefano Massini's play, it runs almost like theater — one location, near-real time, eleven distinct women. A chamber piece for viewers who love a film built entirely on argument, closer to 12 Angry Men than to the usual European labor drama. Stream 7 Minutes online on iFILM.
