Synopsis
Annie Get Your Gun (1950) is an MGM musical western you can watch online on iFILM — directed by George Sidney, with Betty Hutton and Howard Keel in Irving Berlin's stage hit brought to Technicolor.
Annie Oakley is the best shot in the West, which complicates things considerably when she meets Frank Butler, a marksman who cannot quite stomach being outgunned by anyone, let alone a woman he is falling for. Both are performers in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, and neither is built to lose. The romantic tension runs on exactly that stubbornness, and the musical numbers do not slow it down.
Irving Berlin's 1946 Broadway show was already a phenomenon before MGM got hold of it. Hutton stepped into the lead after Judy Garland left the production midway through filming, and what she delivered is genuinely hard to look away from. Songs like "There's No Business Like Show Business" and "Anything You Can Do" came from this picture and never really left the culture. Stream Annie Get Your Gun (1950) online on iFILM.
