Synopsis
Then She Found Me (2007) is a tender, wry-edged drama you can watch online on iFILM. A New York schoolteacher in her late thirties aches to have a baby and instead gets the floor pulled out from under her: her husband walks out and her adoptive mother dies, all within days.
Then a stranger shows up at the door — her biological mother, a loud talk-show host happy to barge into a life she was never part of. Around the same time, a careful romance begins with the father of one of her students. Helen Hunt stars and makes her directing debut here. Bette Midler is the impossible newfound mother, with Colin Firth and Matthew Broderick alongside; novelist Salman Rushdie turns up in a small role.
Working from Elinor Lipman's novel, Hunt keeps the tone honest and resists a sugary ending, leaving room for real talk about faith, motherhood and second chances. It's small, grown-up filmmaking for anyone tired of glossy rom-coms. Stream Then She Found Me (2007) on iFILM.
