A newlywed couple arrives at a remote castle to visit the bride's cousins, only to find them recently dead and the place overrun by vampires. Rollin wasn't after cheap scares. What he built is closer to a surrealist fever dream: slow rituals, lesbian eroticism, fog and shadow, beauty wound tight around dread.
