Synopsis
"Liberation – Part 2: Breakthrough" (1970) — watch online on iFILM. After Kursk, Soviet forces drive westward. The Dnieper crossing is next, and one regiment goes in first — unknowingly serving as a decoy to draw German reserves away from the main Soviet bridgehead.
Cut off and encircled on the right bank, the unit fights to break out while the rest of the army exploits the opening. The film cuts between those soldiers and a parallel storyline in Italy: Mussolini's arrest, the German invasion, and Otto Skorzeny's rescue of the deposed dictator. Nikolai Olyalin, Larisa Golubkina, and Mikhail Ulyanov star; the Tehran Conference closes the picture.
That intercutting — front-line infantry alongside back-room diplomacy — is what sets Ozerov's series apart from standard war-movie fare. Stream "Liberation: Breakthrough" (1970) online on iFILM.
