Synopsis
The Beast (La Belva, 2020) is an Italian crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Leonida is a Special Forces veteran whose service left him broken — damaged nerves, an unsteady mind, a life kept at arm's length from the family he once had. Then his daughter is taken, and the man who spent years caging the animal inside him simply lets go of the leash.
Hunting the kidnappers through nighttime Rome, Leonida moves without rules and leaves a trail violent enough that the police soon mark him as a suspect too. Director Ludovico Di Martino keeps it lean at 97 minutes and mean in tone — a story about a father who values getting his child back over his own freedom or sanity. Fabrizio Gifuni carries the lead, balancing the film on a thin wire between pity and fear of the man he plays.
