Synopsis
Hornblower: Retribution (2001), the sixth entry in the British TV series, picks up the morning after Mutiny — watch online on iFILM. The officers of HMS Renown have survived Captain Sawyer. A court-martial in Jamaica is waiting for them instead.
Before the hearing, there is one last action: Hornblower leads a shore party against the Spanish fort at Santo Domingo. The assault collapses when the acting commander makes a catastrophic call at the worst moment, and Hornblower's men take fire they were never supposed to face. Those who make it back arrive knowing accountability is coming for someone.
Andrew Grieve filmed both episodes back-to-back, and Retribution is the slower, more claustrophobic half. Ioan Gruffudd plays Hornblower with a different edge here — cornered rather than commanding — and the courtroom delivers more pressure than most action sequences.
