Synopsis
Winter of The Braves (2019) — watch online on iFILM — is a Ukrainian war drama directed by Oleksii Shapariev. January 1918: several hundred Kyiv students and cadets stepped in front of a Bolshevik advance on the capital. The tagline says four hundred young hearts against a full army. That's close enough to the truth to hurt.
The film centers on the Savytskyi family: a counterintelligence general and his two sons, Andrii and Oleksa, who go to war for different reasons and meet different fates. Ostap Stupka and Dmytro Stupka are among the cast. The battle ended in defeat — the film doesn't pretend otherwise, which is what gives it weight. Stream Winter of The Braves on iFILM.
