Synopsis
Call Me Alma (2023) — a Philippine drama from director Mac Alejandre — is available to watch online on iFILM. Alma (Azi Acosta) works in a high-end Manila bar and has long made peace with her profession: for her it is a deliberate choice, not a trap, and it funds the life she wants.
That stability breaks when Sheila arrives — an aging woman from the streets who claims to be the mother who sold Alma to strangers at birth. Sheila is played by Jaclyn Jose, who took the Best Actress prize at Cannes for Ma' Rosa. Their collision pulls everything Alma has avoided for years into the open: a missing father, a childhood built on poverty, and the question of whether she is who she is by choice or by circumstance.
