Synopsis
78 Days (2024) is a Serbian drama by Emilija Gašić, and you can watch online on iFILM. In the spring when NATO planes began striking Serbia, the girls' father is taken away to serve, and three sisters are left in their countryside house with their mother and an old Hi8 camera.
So they start filming each other. The tape carries fragments of someone's earlier recordings, surfacing between the new ones — picking cherries, putting on make-up, squabbling, playing party games, a night sky shuddering with distant blasts. The sisters record the small texture of ordinary life because there's nothing else to hold onto. Things shift when a quiet boy and his shy little sister arrive from Belgrade and move in next door, and first crushes start pushing through the fear of the sirens.
The whole film is assembled from this amateur footage, and that's its quiet power — the war stays at the edge of the frame while childhood holds the center. An intimate 82-minute piece for anyone who values found footage for its honesty rather than its scares. Stream 78 Days (2024) online on iFILM.
