Synopsis
Derby Girl (2020) is a French comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. Chloé Jouannet plays Lola Bouvier, a 25-year-old former figure skating star who has never seriously considered the possibility of not being the best at something.
After her skating career stalls, Lola pivots to roller derby — landing on the Cannibal Licornes, the weakest team in France. The mismatch is the engine of the whole show. Lola walks in expecting a coronation. Her new teammates are barely staying upright on their skates. She doesn't seem to register the gap. Director Nikola Lange builds the comedy around exactly that: the space between who Lola thinks she is and where she has actually ended up.
