Synopsis
Destan (2021), or The Warrior Princess as it's known in international release, is a Turkish historical drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Emir Khalilzadeh drops viewers into 8th-century Central Asia, where Göktürk khanates bleed each other while Chinese armies press in from the east and Mongol and Persian forces circle from the west.
Akkiz is an orphaned girl from the mountain steppes — fierce, and branded a rebel by those in power. The great khan Alpagu arranges her marriage to his disabled son Batuga as a political calculation rather than a mercy. Ebru Şahin and Edip Tepeli build a reluctant partnership that slowly becomes something neither of them planned.
