Synopsis
Reindeer Mafia (Poromafia, 2023) is a Finnish crime saga laced with black comedy that you can watch online on iFILM. In the far north of Finland, one family has run the reindeer-herding trade for generations — and quietly ruled the town along with it.
The whole arrangement collapses the day Brita dies. She was the matriarch, the one who really held the clan together. Her relatives gather for the funeral expecting to split the herds and the land, but her will turns out to be a trap. Long-buried secrets surface, and the inheritance pits siblings, in-laws and children against each other in an open war over everything the old woman once kept in line. Snowy wilderness, restless reindeer and decades of grudges form the backdrop where money starts to smell like blood. Director Mika Kurvinen keeps it balanced between icy Nordic noir and sharp, almost absurd humor.
