Ultimate Measure (2024) is a Russian period crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. The setting is Yaroslavl, 1974, where two savage killings rattle the city within days of each other.

First, a repeat-offender thief nicknamed Burelom is murdered with an awl through the ear. Then a mentally ill physicist walks into the police station carrying his neighbor's severed head. Both cases land on Egor Tabolin, an investigator for especially grave crimes. He doesn't buy the confession beaten out of a decorated war pilot, and the woman's death looks far too deliberate for madness. Every thread leads to the same place — the local psychiatric hospital, run by head doctor Mikhail Nagornykh and his deputy Vaganov.

Directed by Vyacheslav Rogozhkin and Eduard Melnikov, the series soaks in Soviet provincial noir: dim courtyards, green-shaded desk lamps, quiet dread behind official walls.
