TV-GSeason 1
In 1960s Britain, an upstanding detective takes on a dangerous world
Synopsis
Inspector George Gently (2008), Season 1 is a British crime drama you can watch online on iFILM — three feature-length episodes set in the early 1960s, when the line between police and criminals was starting to blur.
A Scotland Yard veteran loses his wife to a gangster and nearly walks away from the job. A killing up north in Northumberland pulls him back and pairs him with John Bacchus, a young detective in a hurry. From there: a charred body near an RAF base that drags Special Branch into a political mess, and a German businessman found dead in the sea, after which Bacchus is offered a bribe he has to think about. Three cases, one running argument between the old way and the new.
Made by the BBC from Alan Hunter's novels, this season leans on character rather than chases. It suits anyone who likes a slow, period-soaked detective story. Watch Inspector George Gently Season 1 online on iFILM.
