TV-GSeason 8
In 1960s Britain, an upstanding detective takes on a dangerous world
Synopsis
Inspector George Gently (2008), Season 8 is the British detective drama's finale — two episodes you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1970, the sixties are over, and these are the last cases the old chief inspector will ever work.
The first reopens one of Bacchus's old files: a woman jailed for killing her husband. Gently risks his name to undo what may have been a miscarriage of justice. The second finds him on the brink of retirement when the head of a new covert unit hands him an unsolved case laced with political danger — and he can't quite say no. Two feature-length stories draw the line under the inspector and his sergeant.
Martin Shaw closes the character out without fuss, on the same quiet integrity that carried the show across eight seasons. It's a fitting send-off for anyone who stayed the whole way. Stream Inspector George Gently Season 8 online on iFILM.
