TV-GSeason 2
In 1960s Britain, an upstanding detective takes on a dangerous world
Synopsis
Watch Inspector George Gently Season 2 (2009) online on iFILM — four episodes of British detective drama in which Gently and his sergeant Bacchus take on cases that each peel back a different layer of the respectable North East.
It opens with an old man murdered in his crumbling mansion, a death that hides more than two policemen can read at first glance. Then a young woman's body turns up in a church, and the trail leads to the first hostess club in Newcastle. The third case drops the pair into racial hatred, sexual jealousy and turf warfare. The season closes with a body in a mill and a tangle of blackmail, fraud and local corruption. Four investigations, and in every one Gently keeps working on his partner's conscience.
This BBC adaptation of Alan Hunter's novels stays true to itself: less action, more 1960s social portrait. Stronger than the first run, with cases woven tighter into their era. Stream all episodes of Season 2 online on iFILM.
