In 1950's London, they delivered hope for all.
Synopsis
Call the Midwife (2012), Season 9 — the BBC midwife drama, eight episodes you can watch online on iFILM. By the mid-1960s Poplar is testing Nonnatus House all over again.
The season opens hard: a diphtheria outbreak Dr Turner and Nurse Crane have to contain, and an abandoned baby Fred pulls from a dustbin, with the team racing to find its mother. From there it stacks up the cases nobody else wants — a pregnant sex worker, a diabetic recovering from cancer, a blind mother whose own sister calls Social Services on her. Shelagh fields an alarming call from the Hong Kong adoption agency about someone from May's past. And the real threat is the building itself: the council moves to cut Nonnatus funding, and Sister Julienne decides to fight back.
Creator Heidi Thomas keeps grounding the stories in the decade's actual medicine rather than manufactured tension. Season 9 runs darker than what came before — the question isn't only who the nurses can save, but whether Nonnatus survives. Stream Call the Midwife Season 9 online on iFILM.
