Synopsis
"Arabesque" (1966) is a spy comedy-thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Stanley Donen three years after "Charade" and working exactly the same side of the street: glamour, danger, two stars visibly enjoying themselves.
Gregory Peck plays David Pollock, an Oxford professor of ancient hieroglyphics recruited to crack a cipher tied to a conspiracy against a Middle Eastern leader. He has no qualification for any of this. His only resource is Yasmin Azir (Sophia Loren), a woman who works for the villain and may or may not be helping Pollock survive — depending on the scene. Henry Mancini's score keeps the whole thing on the right side of ridiculous. Crisp, quick, and designed to look good on a Saturday night. Stream "Arabesque" online on iFILM.
