Synopsis
Narrow Margin (1990) is an American thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Peter Hyams and starring Gene Hackman as a hard-nosed L.A. District Attorney alongside Anne Archer as a witness who desperately wants to stay hidden.
Carol Hunnicut went on a blind date and ended up watching a mob lawyer get shot. Now the Medellín cartel's rival — a powerful U.S. crime boss — wants her dead before she can testify. Hackman's DA tracks her down to a remote Canadian cabin, but the two hitmen sent to silence her aren't far behind. They board a Vancouver-bound train and spend the next stretch of mountain wilderness playing a nerve-shredding game where every passenger is a suspect.
Hyams remade the 1952 RKO noir of the same name and leaned hard into confined-space tension rather than spectacle. At 97 minutes it doesn't overstay its welcome, and Hackman's gruff, unglamorous performance gives the cat-and-mouse formula more weight than it usually gets. A tight, old-school thriller.
