Synopsis

Lieutenant Colonel Alan Caldwell runs the Presidio military base in San Francisco. Jay Austin is now a civilian homicide detective — and a murder on Caldwell's base pulls these two men back into each other's orbit. They have history: Austin left the military police after a loud public clash with Caldwell over a drunk-driving case. Neither has forgiven the other. The complication neither expected is that Austin has started seeing Caldwell's daughter.
Hyams shoots San Francisco with real affection — the city feels lived-in, not just scenic. Connery and Harmon sell the mutual contempt without turning it cartoonish, which is the hard part.
