Knock

Knock (2017) is a French comedy starring Omar Sy that you can watch online on iFILM. A reformed pickpocket passes himself off as a licensed physician, settles into the sleepy town of Saint-Maurice, and sets out to convince perfectly healthy people they are gravely ill.

The scheme is shameless and simple. For every villager Knock invents an alarming symptom, prescribes bed rest and regular check-ups, and before long the whole town is paying him to treat ailments nobody actually has. Sy makes the swindler impossible to dislike — charming, quick, believable even when you know he's lying. Business booms until two things tangle the plan: he falls for a local woman, and a face from his old life turns up, ready to tell everyone who the good doctor really is.

Directed by Lorraine Lévy, the film loosely adapts Jules Romains' 1923 stage satire and moves it into a bright, well-dressed 1950s. It's gentle, old-fashioned mischief about gullibility and the authority of a white coat — more grin than bite. A good pick if you enjoy light French comedies built around one likeable con man.
