Synopsis
Time of the Wolf (Le temps du loup, 2003) is a post-apocalyptic drama you can watch online on iFILM — directed by Michael Haneke and led by Isabelle Huppert in one of her most stripped-back performances. France, Austria, and Germany co-produced this 114-minute film that refuses to tell you what went wrong with the world.
Anna arrives at the family's country house to find strangers inside. Her husband is shot within minutes. What happened — plague, war, environmental collapse — is never stated. Haneke withholds the disaster entirely and deposits us in its wake. Anna and her two children walk toward an abandoned railway station where dozens of other displaced people have gathered, waiting for a train that may never come. Rationing food leads to violence; small acts of decency appear briefly and vanish. The cast — Patrice Chéreau, Béatrice Dalle, Olivier Gourmet — brings the weight of people who still remember what normal felt like.
Most post-apocalyptic films build toward a resolution. This one removes the scaffolding of genre comfort entirely. Stream Time of the Wolf (2003) online on iFILM.
