Synopsis

Yuki was born in prison to a dying woman who had one purpose in mind. Four criminals destroyed her family. Her mother could not finish what needed finishing. So Yuki was raised by a monk-swordsman as a precise instrument of vengeance, and now she moves through Meiji-era Japan tracking each name on the list.
Quentin Tarantino drew heavily on this film for Kill Bill — Meiko Kaji's song "Shura no Hana," performed on screen, was lifted directly into the Kill Bill soundtrack. But Lady Snowblood holds up entirely on its own terms: inventively shot, formally structured like a graphic novel, and carried by a performance that says more through stillness than most action films manage with ten times the noise.
