Synopsis
The Silent One (1973) is a French Cold War spy thriller you can watch online on iFILM, starring Lino Ventura. French physicist Clément Tibère vanished sixteen years ago — the KGB took him, and he has lived inside the Soviet Union as Anton Haliakov ever since. Now MI5 has pulled him off a London street, and the interrogation begins.
Haliakov doesn't speak. He's had sixteen years to practice. Ventura plays a man who has genuinely become someone else, and the question the film keeps pressing is whether any trace of Clément Tibère still exists inside — and whether the British actually need him, or just want to close an old file.
