Synopsis
Jo's Boy (Le Fils à Jo, 2010) is a French comedy-drama about rugby you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by former player Philippe Guillard and led by Gérard Lanvin, it tells a warm story about the weight a family legend drops onto one small boy's shoulders.
Jo Canavero is the grandson, son and himself a rugby legend in a tiny village in the Tarn. He's raising his thirteen-year-old son Tom alone, and there's a problem: Tom is brilliant at maths and hopeless on the pitch. For a Canavero, that's nearly a disgrace. So Jo decides the dynasty can't end here and builds an entire rugby team around his boy — against the wishes of the whole village, and of Tom himself.
Guillard knows the sport from the inside, and beneath the village comedy sits an honest look at fathers who push their kids toward the wrong dream. A gentle pick for anyone who likes French small-town comedies with characters that feel real. Stream Jo's Boy (2010) online on iFILM.
