Synopsis
Beyond the Edge (2018) is a Russian sci-fi action film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Alexander Boguslavsky and starring Miloš Biković, Lyubov Aksyonova, and Antonio Banderas. Set in contemporary Moscow, it follows Michael, a gifted con artist who recruits a crew of people with supernatural abilities to pull off a major casino heist.
The plan falls apart the moment a far more powerful mystical rival enters the picture. Michael is forced to cross into the subconscious — the inner dimension from which his team's powers draw — where the rules of space and time no longer apply. Yevgeny Stychkin and the rest of the crew are caught in the crossfire.
The film blends the paranormal heist genre with Russian urban fantasy: part X-Men, part illusionist thriller. It doesn't always hold together, but Banderas makes for an effective antagonist and the sequences set inside the mental landscape deliver enough visual invention to keep the pace moving.
