Synopsis
Once Upon a Time in High School (2004) is a Korean drama from director Yoo Ha that you can watch online on iFILM. Seoul, spring 1978. Quiet transfer student Hyun-soo lands at Jungmoon High, a school infamous for teachers who cane their students over nothing and hallways carved up between rival gangs.
A clutch shot on the basketball court connects him with Woo-shik, the unofficial king of the school. The two bond over an obsession they share — both worship Bruce Lee, drilling his moves in secret and dreaming of jeet kune do. But friendship, a first crush and the school's brutal pecking order pull Hyun-soo in different directions, until the day he has to stand up for himself alone.
Yoo Ha uses one classroom to sketch a whole suffocating era under military rule: retro pop hits, buttoned-up uniforms, fear of every adult in the room.
