The Wolf Man has been resurrected against his will and wants one thing: a permanent cure, or failing that, a real death. He tracks down the notes of the late Dr. Frankenstein and, following them, finds the Monster still frozen in ice. A mad scientist sees an opportunity in having both of them in the same place.

This was Universal's deliberate move to pair its two biggest horror franchises in a single film — the first monster crossover in Hollywood history. Lugosi, who famously passed on the original Frankenstein role in 1931 to play Dracula, finally steps into the Monster's boots here, which gives the whole thing an extra layer for anyone who knows the backstory.
