Synopsis
Eastern Boys (2013) is a French drama you can watch online on iFILM. Daniel, a comfortable middle-aged Parisian, lingers around the young migrants who drift through the Gare du Nord and picks one out — a Ukrainian who gives his name as Marek. What looks like a simple arrangement for one evening turns into something else entirely: the next morning his doorbell rings, and Daniel realizes the deal he made was never the deal he thought.
From there the film keeps quietly changing shape, sliding from a risky encounter into a tangle of dependence, protection, and unexpected tenderness between two men who share almost nothing. Director Robin Campillo, who later made 120 BPM, builds long, near-wordless stretches where the tension gathers in the room rather than the dialogue. Olivier Rabourdin and Kirill Emelyanov carry the leads, and the picture took the top prize in the Orizzonti section at the Venice Film Festival.
