Synopsis
Angel Face (Gueule d'ange, 2018) is a French drama you can watch online on iFILM. It marks the directing debut of Vanessa Filho and stars Marion Cotillard as Marlène, a young single mother drinking and partying her way through a dead-end town near the French Riviera while her eight-year-old daughter, Elli, quietly learns to fend for herself.
Then Marlène meets a man and simply leaves, abandoning the girl in an empty apartment. What follows isn't a tidy story of a child saving a parent; it's about a small person forced to play the mother she no longer has. Cotillard strips away all the glamour to play someone selfish, unraveling and painfully real. The film screened in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes.
