Synopsis
Seven Swords (2005) — watch online this epic wuxia action film directed by Tsui Hark, with Donnie Yen and Lau Kar-leung in a large ensemble cast. The setting is mid-17th century China under the early Qing dynasty, which has outlawed martial arts and put a price on the head of anyone who still practices them.
A ruthless mercenary commander is turning the bounty into a business. Seven warriors — each carrying a blade forged for a specific purpose — come together to protect a village that refused to abandon the old ways. What follows across nearly two and a half hours is a mix of brutal combat, shifting loyalties and the kind of moral ambiguity Tsui Hark had been building toward for years.
Based on a novel by Liang Yusheng, the film is the most ambitious production of Tsui Hark's mid-career run: big battle choreography, a wide cast of characters who each earn their screen time. Stream Seven Swords online on iFILM.
