Synopsis
The Battle at Lake Changjin (2021) is an epic Chinese war drama you can watch online on iFILM. It runs nearly three hours and shares the director's chair three ways: Chen Kaige, Tsui Hark and Dante Lam.
Winter 1950, the Korean War. The Chinese People's Volunteers march toward the Changjin (Chosin) Reservoir to meet elite U.S. forces across frozen mountains in thirty-below cold. The story follows a company commander played by Wu Jing and his younger brother, a green recruit played by Jackson Yee. Snowbound trenches, frostbitten fingers, thinning ammunition, and orders to hold the pass at any cost.
The film became one of the highest-grossing releases in Chinese box-office history, dramatizing the real engagement the West knows as the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. Its combat is staged at full blockbuster scale, and it makes no secret of its patriotic lens — this is the war seen squarely from the Chinese side. Best suited to viewers who love large-scale war cinema and can handle genuinely harsh sequences. Stream The Battle at Lake Changjin (2021) online on iFILM.
