Synopsis

The Italian Connection (La mala ordina, 1972) is a hard-edged Italian crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Fernando Di Leo as the second chapter of his Milieu Trilogy, it drops you into early-seventies Milan, where a shipment of heroin vanishes on its way to New York and a small-time pimp takes the blame.

The bosses pin the theft on Luca Canali, played by Mario Adorf, and two American hitmen are flown in to make an example of him. Henry Silva and Woody Strode are that pair — cool, mismatched, methodical. But Luca is the wrong man, and the people who framed him want him dead before the killers ever learn the truth. Cornered and underestimated, he becomes something far more dangerous than a fall guy.

Di Leo strips the gangster myth of any glamour: grimy streets, bone-crunching brawls, and a climactic chase later echoed by directors who grew up on this stuff. Quentin Tarantino has openly named it among his favorites, and you can see why — no noble crooks here, just the raw machinery of the underworld. Stream The Italian Connection (1972) online on iFILM.
