Synopsis
Juanita (2019) is an American drama you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Clark Johnson, it follows a middle-aged woman who decides, more or less overnight, that the rest of her life ought to belong to her.
Juanita is worn thin — ungrateful grown kids, grandchildren to mind, a flat city existence that gives her nothing back. So she puts a finger on a map, boards a Greyhound bus and steps off in tiny Paper Moon, Montana, where nobody knows a thing about her. That turns out to be exactly the point. She takes a job at a small restaurant, gets reacquainted with herself, and falls into a romance that surprises everyone, herself included.
Alfre Woodard carries the film almost single-handed, with warmth and a dry sense of humor, backed by Adam Beach and Blair Underwood. Adapted from Sheila Williams' novel, it isn't after big dramatic storms; it's a quiet story about a second wind, self-respect and the right to start over at any age. A gentle, charming pick for an easy evening. Stream Juanita (2019) online on iFILM.
