Synopsis
Hansan: Rising Dragon (2022) is a Korean historical war film you can watch online on iFILM. In the summer of 1592, as the Japanese navy pushes deep into Korea, Admiral Yi Sun-sin meets it with a thin line of ships and one desperate gamble.
The odds are lopsided — the enemy brings hundreds of vessels and heavier guns. Yi (Park Hae-il) keeps one card hidden: the geobukseon, an armored ram with a dragon's head carved at the bow. To unleash it, he lures the Japanese into the tight waters off Hansan Island and folds his fleet into a crane-wing formation, a maneuver that later made it into the history books. Director Kim Han-min hands roughly an hour of screen time to the battle itself: decks on fire, boarding parties, cannon traded at point-blank range.
This is the second chapter of a trilogy about the admiral and a prequel to The Admiral: Roaring Currents. Back home it outdrew everything else that summer. The telling is restrained — no lone hero striking poses. Yi is a cold tactician who wins with his head before the guns ever fire. Good for fans of large-scale naval combat and Asian period cinema.
