Synopsis
Happy Endings (2005) is Don Roos's ensemble tragicomedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Across more than two hours it threads together a handful of lives around parenthood, secrets and the messy fallout of who slept with whom.
At its heart is Mamie (Lisa Kudrow), a masseuse cornered by a young filmmaker who dangles a deal: he'll locate the son she gave up for adoption nearly twenty years ago. Around her, the stories spiral. A gay couple sets out to learn what happened to the sperm one of them once donated to a lesbian pair. A scheming singer, Jude (Maggie Gyllenhaal), works her way into a triangle with an androgynous drummer and his wealthy, conservative father (Tom Arnold). Connections surface, lies leak out, and almost no one turns out to be who they claimed.
Roos handles the chaos with dry wit, on-screen captions that comment on the action, and a sharp cast that includes Steve Coogan and Laura Dern. It's built for fans of bittersweet mid-2000s indie dramedy. Stream Happy Endings (2005) online on iFILM.
