Synopsis
Painted Skin: The Resurrection (2012) is a Chinese fantasy epic you can watch online on iFILM. Old lore says a demon can only become human once someone offers up their heart of their own free will.
Fox spirit Xiaowei spends centuries frozen in an icy prison, longing to feel real human life. Freed at last, she meets Princess Jing, whose face is scarred and whose heart is broken over a guard commander she cannot have. The demon proposes a trade — a bargain where each gets what she craves, yet both risk losing themselves. What unfolds is a story about beauty, jealousy and the cost of genuine feeling. Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei take the leads, with Wuershan directing.
This isn't a straight sequel but a standalone tale loosely drawn from Pu Songling's classic ghost stories. Lavish sets, costumes and effects made it one of the highest-grossing films in Chinese cinema at the time of release. It's for viewers who love Eastern fantasy where visual splendor matters more than tight logic. Stream Painted Skin: The Resurrection (2012) online on iFILM.
