Save the Green Planet! (지구를 지켜라!, 2003) is a South Korean genre-bender from director Jang Joon-hwan — part sci-fi comedy, part crime thriller, part something else entirely — and you can watch it online on iFILM. Shin Ha-kyun, Baek Yoon-sik and Hwang Jung-min lead the cast.

Lee Byung-gu is convinced that reptilian aliens have infiltrated Korea's ruling class and are plotting to wipe out humanity. A lunar eclipse is hours away. He's already abducted the man he believes is the Prince of Andromeda's earthly agent, set up a homemade torture chamber in his basement, and started filming everything. The target can withstand 300 volts of electricity without breaking — which tells you the film isn't playing entirely for laughs.

Jang Joon-hwan pulls off something genuinely strange: he makes you sympathise with a man who is doing terrible things, while keeping you unsure whether he's entirely wrong. A cult oddity that defies easy categorisation. Stream Save the Green Planet! (2003) online on iFILM.
