Levity

Levity (2003) is Ed Solomon's crime drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Manuel Jordan (Billy Bob Thornton) walks out on parole after 23 years inside. As a teenager he shot a young man during a robbery, and for two decades he stared at the victim's newspaper photo taped up in his cell.

Out of prison, he returns to the same town — not to start over, but to somehow answer to the dead boy's sister. Redemption arrives on its own terms, not his: a strange street preacher named Miles Evans (Morgan Freeman) sermonizes by night, smokes by day, and pulls Manuel into running a youth center. Then there's Sofia (Kirsten Dunst), a girl steadily burning herself out in nightclubs. Holly Hunter plays the sister he can never quite bring himself to confront.

It's a hushed, wintry film about guilt that can't be undone and whether anyone really gets to "make it right." One for fans of slow, performance-driven dramas with a heavyweight cast. Stream Levity (2003) online on iFILM.
