Synopsis
Kurt & Courtney (1998) is Nick Broomfield's confrontational documentary, available to watch online on iFILM, shot in the months after Nirvana's frontman was found dead in Seattle in the spring of 1994.
The official ruling was a self-inflicted shotgun blast. Broomfield, though, simply points his camera at everyone in Cobain's orbit: Courtney Love's ex-boyfriend, her father Hank Harrison, private investigator Tom Grant, and a grimy rocker known as El Duce. Out of dozens of rambling interviews comes a split portrait — a shy musician worn down by fame and heroin, and his pushy, attention-hungry wife.
This isn't a tribute or a tidy biopic; it's a messy, much-disputed film about rumour, censorship and what a documentary is even allowed to claim. Fans of nineties music and true crime will argue over it for hours. Stream Kurt & Courtney (1998) online on iFILM.
